My journey in the world of Real Estate began by accident. I was working for a money manager in the SF Financial District. The Dot Com market collapsed and I was laid off along with many others. I answered an ad for a loan officer. I was hired and my life in this industry began, I originated loans for 5+- years during the days of the stated income loans. I was discouraged by the blatant disregard by loan officers of the inability of borrowers to pay the mortgages, especially the stated income loans. I became a full-time Realtor yes for the ability to make money but also for the reward of helping a client, a family land the dream of becoming home owners, helping out investors with income producing properties or a rehabber/flipper find a deal. The satisfaction of negotiating good leases for my restaurant clients. The absolute satisfaction of doing the job well and honestly.

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT AS A REALTOR?

Honesty! Going the extra mile hands on. I enjoy helping out loan agents by picking up paperwork from buyers, full service on listings offering 3D tours, floor plans single property websites etc. I am a well-rounded knowledge of the Real Estate industry (short-sales NOD’s), knowledgeable of loan programs especially for 1st time home buyers.

WHAT MOST EXCITES YOU ABOUT YOUR WORK?

Doing the job right with integrity, honesty and a nice happy smile and good humor. Delivering part of the American Dream a piece of the pie to a buyer turning my clients in friends.

WHO INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?

My beautiful grandmother (passed), she took care of my sister and I and never gave up on us when most did. One of her favorite sayings that stuck with me is “A closed mouth won’t get fed.”

ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOURSELF?

My biggest learning lessons have been from my failures and motivated me to get up don’t give up.

WHAT WAS THE HAPPIEST MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE?

Being able to hug my sister after 30+ years of being separated

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A 5-YEAR-OLD CHILD IF HE OR SHE ASKED YOU WHAT THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS?

Enjoy every minute of it, be honest, and help out the less fortunate.

After originating loans and working as a mutual funds rep for +- 5 years, he became a full-time Realtor. It was rewarding for him to help a client or family land the dream of becoming homeowners. Before the pandemic, Ashley Du reached out to Hector and suggested he be a part of Sequoia’s commercial group, but then the timing wasn’t right. Hector reached out once again in 2022 and joined.
